‘Great Turtle Island’ (5.1%) Saison brewed with Wild Rice, Quinoa, and Yellow Maize

Great Turtle Island

We’re utilizing indigenous grains to North and South America for a Saison we’ve titled ‘Great Turtle Island’. We’re brewing this beer for our Tap Take Over at Farmhouse Tap & Grill Wednesday September 23rd in the middle of Vermont Beer Week.

The Wild Rice, Quinoa, and Yellow Maize needs to be cooked before the enzymes of the mash are able to convert the starches into fermentable sugars. Wild Rice provides a nutty character. Quinoa lends a deep earth-y flavor and the high protein levels should provide a soft mouth feel. The Yellow Maize adds a popcorn aroma and texture to the body.

Very limited amounts of this beer will be poured during Vermont Beer Week at Farmhouse Tap & Grill and our tap room. Vermont Beer Week is September 18th – 27th.
