Native Land

Mexican-style Lager

All Beer is Brewed on Native Land.

As a tribute to the Vermont land that we call home and the rich heritage it carries, this beer celebrates the Abenaki people who have lived in harmony with these lands for countless generations. Our adaptation of Native Land is a Mexican-style lager brewed with Vermont-grown heritage corn by Nitty Gritty, and flaked by Thrall Malting in Connecticut. With each sip, you'll be transported to the breathtaking landscapes that have been nurtured by the Abenaki people for millennia.

BBCO’s Commitment to Native Land Beer Collaboration

We are honored and humbled to participate with the Native Land Beer Collaboration —initiated by Bow & Arrow Brewing Co.— which supports Native American communities and raises awareness about their vital role in our nation's history and present. Breweries who participate are committing to donate beer profits to Native American non-profits focused on ecological stewardship, access to ancestral lands and/or revitalization of traditional agriculture and food ways.

BBCO’s commitment to the Native Land Beer Collaboration goes beyond just brewing a delicious beer. We acknowledge the importance of supporting Indigenous communities in their ongoing struggle for justice and equality. We're donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of Native Land to Gedakina, an organization dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by Native American youth, women, and communities in Vermont.

By supporting this incredible organization, we're not only raising awareness about the Abenaki Land we brew on but also contributing to Gedakina’s mission of uplifting Native American communities and their connection to their ancestral lands.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of Native American communities by raising awareness, acknowledging their contributions, and supporting organizations like Gedakina and Navajo Ethno-Agriculture. Cheers to a brighter future for all!

About Gedakina

Gedakina is a multigenerational endeavor to strengthen and revitalize the cultural knowledge and identity of Native American women and their families from across New England. They work to conserve our traditional homelands and places of historical, ecological, and spiritual significance and to educate others as to their importance.

Gedakina supports indigenous communities in many ways, including:

  • “Braiding Sweetgrass”: Multi-generational mentoring and support system for women and girls, associated with the MMIW movement (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women), which promotes self-determination, cultural continuance, and well-being while organizing programs focused on sexual and domestic violence prevention and healing.

  • “Cultivating Mother Corn”: Women-led indigenous cultivated agricultural practices aimed at recovering sustainable indigenous food systems and strengthening women and girls’ leadership capacity within the indigenous community, and beyond.

  • Educational Initiatives: Developing culturally appropriate and historically accurate education curriculum for K-12 teachers to help create appropriate Native American literature and art activities.

  • Environmental Initiatives: Combating environmental issues that negatively impact Vermont's local Native communities, including pipeline construction man camps on Native lands, Biomass side-effects which leads to increased risks of Asthma and COPD, and ensuring clean water for drinking and crop irrigation.
