The Art Behind the Beer

A sketch is where a label begins. Explore the drawings and finished artwork of Tim Fealey, Creative Director at Burlington Beer Co. These examples move from pencil on paper and digital concept sketches to the colorful worlds on our cans.

Little Wizard

Two wizards frame the first loose concept. Color, lettering and small details bring the characters into focus in the finished draft. The 2025 update rebalances the label around the name, the IPA lettering and a castle, showing how a familiar character can keep evolving.

Strawberry Whale Cake

Whales, strawberries and a cake take shape in Tim’s digital concept sketch. A revised sketch explores the composition before the final label brings the scene together in pink and red. Follow the small changes in shape, symmetry and lettering as the idea becomes a finished design.

Enchanted Ruins

A pencil sketch on paper maps out an imagined ruin, from its arches to its candles. In the finished label, blue stone, green shapes and glowing windows give that structure depth. The original drawing provides the composition for a more detailed world.

Light in the Window

The first pencil drawing gathers a village around a central doorway. In the finished label, purple buildings and orange rooftops surround bright windows and paths of light. The layout remains recognizable as the drawing becomes a complete scene.

Kings Canyon

Tim’s digital concept sketch lays out a canyon, a central crest and desert wildlife. The finished artwork sharpens the geometry and develops the birds, cactus and small details. Color and repeated forms connect the many parts of the label.
